Over a million-and-a-half people live in the state of New Mexico. And a third of these folks have made their homes in Greater Albuquerque and its surrounding areas. Albuquerque, or "Burque" as some locals may fondly call it, is the metropolitan heartbeat for this Land of Enchantment. The city's Old Town district offers visitors a rich and fascinating snapshot of the state's Spanish Colonial history (which pre-dates the original 13 Colonies.) Climate and conditions have attracted new residents for generations: an elevation with crisp, invigorating air and over 300 days of beautiful sunshine a year! But residents here are not deprived of the four seasons - only the harsh seasonal extremes experienced in some other parts of the country.
